Bond modified for 2006 murder suspect

A bond modification was granted in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday afternoon for one of the suspects charged in connection with the 2006 murder of Roscoe Mayes.

Annastaja Hathaway appeared alongside defense attorney Brandi Jones, who argued for bond reduction for her client, saying the $1 million bond was extraordinary and the circumstances in the case haven’t changed that she can tell since 2006.

Judge Andrew Self did grant the request, putting Hathaway’s bond the same as her co-defendant’s—Lashanda Person—at $100,000, with at least ten percent to be paid in cash. Jones also informed the court that one of the witnesses in the case may present a conflict for her, but she’s working to see if she can continue to represent Hathaway.

Public defender Doug Moore represents Person and says they’re missing a statement from Hathaway when she was arrested in the evidence, with the Commonwealth saying they’ll look to make sure it was sent.

Hathaway and Person are both charged with murder and first-degree robbery in the 2006 death of Mayes that took place at a residence on Greenville Road.
