Rail trail bridge closed for inspection

Hopkinsville’s Greenway Rail Trail Bridge is closed until further notice.

City officials announced Tuesday that the pedestrian bridge over Lafayette Road and Country Club Lane is closed until structural engineers examine the bridge on Wednesday morning.  Cracks on the surrounding stone work were noticed and reported to the city this afternoon, leading to the precautionary closure to ensure public safety.

Any decision on reopening the bridge will not be made until city officials meet with structural engineers.
