(Cincinnati, OH)  — Cincinnati is crawling toward the finish line of the M-L-B season after their 8-3 loss to the Pirates in Pittsburgh.  The score was tied 2-2 heading into the seventh until Jack Suwinski drove in two runs off a double and Kevin Newman hit an R-B-I single as part of a four-run inning.  Aristides Aquino and T-J Friedl each hit homers for the Reds, who have lost four-of-five games.  The team has eight games left in the regular season and is back in action tonight as the series continues in Pittsburgh.

Atlanta Braves 8, Washington Nationals 0

>>Braves One Game Behind Mets For Division After Win Over Nats

(Washington, D.C.)  — The Braves are back within striking distance of the Mets for first place in the N-L East after their 8-0 win over the Nationals in D-C.  Bryce Elder spun a gem, pitching a complete game shutout while surrendering six hits.  Matt Olson smashed a homer and had three R-B-I while Marcell Ozuna and Orlando Arcia also crushed home runs.  The Braves are now one game behind the Mets for first place in the division. During a White House ceremony, Biden said the Braves have a rich history in Major League Baseball.  He said the champs never quit, despite a rocky start to the season.  The Braves defeated the Houston Astros in the World Series, four-games-to-two.

(Milwaukee, WI)  — The Cardinals have a chance to clinch the NL Central during their series against the Brewers that begins tonight in Milwaukee.  The Cardinals have a six-and-a-half game lead over Milwaukee in the division.  St. Louis would clinch the Central by winning both games in the series.  Miles Mikolas takes the mound for St. Louis tonight.

>>Pujols Earns Player Of The Week Award

(Undated)  — Albert Pujols is being recognized by the MLB after his historic weekend.  The Cardinals slugger was named the Co-National League Player of the Week after hitting is 700th career home run against the Dodgers on Friday.  Pujols had two home runs and five RBI during the week.  It’s the 14th time that he’s won a Player of the Week award during his career.
