Elkton man arrested in connection with Logan County home invasion

An Elkton man has been arrested in connection with a home invasion from August 1 on Deerlick Road in Logan County that led to gunfire.

Investigation by the Logan County Sheriff’s Office determined 35-year old Joshua Taylor of Russellville and 33-year old William Michael Rice of Elkton allegedly forced their way inside a home in the 4300 block of Deerlick Road at about 1 a.m. August 1.

The homeowner had gotten up when he heard a noise and fired a shot from a gun when Taylor and Rice ignored warnings and made entry. A warrant says he thought he had missed, as Taylor continued to charge him and the two fought in the floor until Rice broke them up and they fled the scene.

Taylor was dropped off at the Jennie Stuart emergency room about an hour later by Rice and he claimed he was shot at a party near the monument in Fairview.

The Todd County Sheriff’s Office and Kentucky State Police determined there had not been a shooting near Fairview and KSP said Taylor refused to answer questions about where and how he was shot during interviews at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Taylor was arrested about a week later and Rice was served by the Todd County Sheriff’s Office Saturday morning with a warrant for first-degree burglary.
