For the first time since 2018 Christian County has won two games in the regular season.
They defeat Murray at the Stadium of Champions 34-20 on Friday Night behind a massive performance from Jordan Miles.
He threw for 161 yards and rushed for 201 on the day. First time he has surpassed 100 and 200 respectively this year.
Murray certainly made it tough though jumping out to a seven, and then a twelve point lead.
Miles would scamper for a sixty-six yard touchdown to close the gap at the half to 12-7.
The Tigers scored on their second drive of the second half to take a 20-7 lead, from their it was all Colonels. 27 unanswered points.
Miles rushed for another score to make it 20-14, before a drive later he found JaSean Riley on a screen pass that Riley would take sixty plus yards to the house. That made it 21-20 and gave Christian County their first second half lead of the season since week one.
The defense also did its job, slowing to a crawl the potent option attack of Murray.
Then for good measure, after backing Murry up inside their own five yard line, the defense forced a fumble and scooped it up for a score.
Now 28-20 the game started to feel like the Colonels were in control.
With thirty-five seconds left, Miles only needed six inches to seal the game with a first down conversion. He instead decided to get six more points with an eight yard scamper into the endzone.
34-20 after a blocked ensuing PAT is how we reach our final score.
This is the kind of game and confidence boost the Colonels needed entering district play and they got it.
Now they start the gauntlet.
Next week Greenwood at home on Thursday, remember that. Then a bye week before South Warren on the road and Bowling Green at home the next two after that.
Will they win another game, who knows. Did they get a big time win on Friday night? Absolutely!
