Kentucky Tripped Up at Vanderbilt

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Kentucky women’s soccer (7-3-0, 0-2-0 SEC) was upended by Vanderbilt (7-1-1, 1-1-0 SEC) on Thursday night, dropping a 2-0 decision at the Vanderbilt Soccer Complex in its first SEC road match of the 2022 season. The Commodores scored a goal in each half while Kentucky was unable to find the net for just the second time this year.

Louisville Drops Road Contest to No. 7 Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The University of Louisville Women’s Soccer Team dropped its road contest to No. 7 Florida State, 5-1, Thursday night at the Seminole Soccer Complex. After giving the Seminoles the 2-0 lead in the first half, the Cardinals earned a penalty kick which led to a goal from Maisie Whitsett. The goal was Whitsett’s team leading fourth goal of the season and she has scored in back-to-back games for the second time this season. Florida State pulled away with three second half goals.

University of Louisville All-American Anna Stevenson Hall has been named to the 14-player roster who will comprise the U.S. Women’s National Team at the FIVB World Championships on Sept. 23-Oct. 15 in Netherlands and Poland.

Govs drop road match to Central Arkansas

CONWAY, Ark. –  Despite a season-best 20 shots and eight shots on target, Austin Peay State University’s soccer team dropped a 1-0 ASUN Conference decision to Central Arkansas, Thursday, at Bill Stephens Track and Soccer Complex. Austin Peay (2-5-3, 0-2 ASUN) had two goals wiped off the board in the match, with the first coming in the ninth minute and the latter being on the would-be equalizer in the 82nd minute that was called back for contact with the goalkeeper following on a corner kick.

(Lexington, KY)  — It’ll be a busy day tomorrow in college football as the Wildcats, Vols, Commodores, Tigers and Cardinals are all in action.  Number-nine Kentucky hosts 1-and-2 Northern Illinois while number-22 Florida visits 11th-ranked Tennessee.  Three-and-1 Vanderbilt heads to Tuscaloosa to take on number-two Alabama and Louisville hosts South Florida.  Both teams are one-and-two.  Lastly, 2-and-1 Memphis hosts 2-and-2 North Texas.
