Elkton, Hopkinsville harvest festivals taking place this weekend

Hopkinsville and Elkton will host their annual harvest festivals Saturday and the schedules allow you attend both if you please.

Elkton’s HarvestFest begins at 9 on the Public Square and goes until 3 p.m. and there will be vendors around the square and onto the adjoining streets. City Clerk Laura Brock says they have so many vendors this year, they had to expand the layout of the festival.

Brock says a children’s area will be set up from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Milliken Community House on West Main Street.

There will be live music on the square beginning at 10:30 and featuring Noah and Lilly Goebel, the Live Wire Band and Todd County 4H.

Hopkinsville’s Harvest Festival goes from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the downtown area. The Downtown Farmers Market Vintage Arts and Craft Fair opens at 11 a.m. where folks can shop through handcrafted jewelry, soaps, artwork, décor, doors hangers, home-baked food and more. Laura Faulkner encouraged everyone to bring a chair or a blanket and settle in to enjoy the festivities through the day.

There will be live music starting at 11 a.m., featuring the Jason Montgomery Band and Country Twang.  There will be a free kids zone and activities.

Faulkner says there will also be a competitive scavenger hunt and cocktail creation event, where 24 teams will compete to win prizes and bragging rights.

Proceeds raised during the event go back to benefit the farmers market, the Downtown Renaissance District and the many programs and events they bring to the public.
