Unemployment down in 8 of 9 Pennyrile counties last month

Unemployment was down or stagnant from July to August in all nine Pennyrile counties.

Chrisitan County’s August unemployment rate was 5-percent, down from 5.4 percent in July and down from 5.8 percent one year ago. It equated to 1,254 people who were looking for work and who were unable to find it.

Todd County maintained the region’s lowest jobless rate at 3.2 percent, down from 3.5 percent in July and from 3.7 percent in August of 2021.

The unemployment rate in Trigg County last month was 4.3 percent, down fourth tenths of a point from July and down from an even 5 percent one year ago.

Muhlenberg County had the region’s highest unemployment at 6.2 percent.

Kentucky’s August unemployment rate was 3.7 percent and the national average was 3.8 percent.
