Mark Stoops Named Honorary Coach of Allstate AFCA Good Works Team

Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops, who has helped raise more than $2 million for the Kentucky Children’s Hospital, has been named the honorary head coach of the 2022 Allstate American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Good Works Team®, it was announced Monday. Stoops has a passion for helping children and you can see that in the countless number of community service projects he has worked on in his 10 seasons at Kentucky.

Briggs and Matthews Named C-USA Weekly Award Winners

DALLAS, Texas — After a 2-1 weekend inside Diddle Arena and a sweep over Tennessee, outside hitter Paige Briggs was tabbed C-USA Offensive Player of the Week, while middle hitter Lauren Matthews garnered Defensive Player of the Week honors for her performance.

Claire Chaussee Named ACC Player of the Week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville volleyball fifth year outside hitter Claire Chaussee has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. Chaussee turned in a stellar week to help No. 2-ranked Cardinals defeat two top-25 opponents in rival No. 13 Kentucky and No. 9 Stanford. She opened the week with 16 kills hitting .371, six digs, and two blocks against the Wildcats in a five set thriller that was aired on ESPN. The 6-0 Sun Prairie, Wisconsin native recorded 19 kills hitting .310 and four digs against Stanford. Chaussee has 113 kills through ten matches, hitting an impressive .310 on the season. Chaussee and the Cardinals are now 9-1 this season and 5-1 against ranked opponents heading into conference play. UofL begins the ACC on the road at Miami on Friday at 7:00 p.m. ET and Florida State on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. ET.

Chaussee Named AVCA National Player of the Week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville volleyball fifth year outside hitter Claire Chaussee has been named the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) National Player of the Week.

Mols Named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Freshman keeper Casper Mols was named Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday. Mols has recorded eight saves in three matches with over 260 minutes recorded in the net. The Aabernaa, Denmark native holds a 2-0-1 record at the start of his first year with the Wildcats.

Nuccio Named MVC Freshman of the Week

Federica Nuccio, outside hitter from Frossasco, Italy, has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week as announced today. Nuccio played a pivotal role in both offense and defense leading the Racers to a five-set nail-biter against Clemson, Saturday. She made 16 kills and 12 digs in the match against Clemson to record her seventh double-double of the season and then came back and made another 16 kills and 11 digs to record her eighth in the match against Samford. Nuccio also made three service aces in each match. The outside hitter has played in all 42 sets the Racers’ had this season. This award is Racers Volleyball’s first Missouri Valley Conference award since joining this season. The Racers will have their opener as well as MVC campaign debut Sept. 23, Friday.

Powell’s big weekend leads to ASUN Player of the Week honors
