Friday is the deadline to apply for Hopkinsville Mayor Wendell Lynch’s Youth Council.
This year’s class will represent the 6th of its kind and all interested high school juniors and seniors in Christian County are encouraged to apply whether students attend public, private, or home schools.
Serving on the Council affords young people the opportunity to address issues that affect the community and offer youth-centered solutions and ideas to local government. The program also provides a platform for students to enhance leadership skills and unlock a spirit of volunteerism.
Applicants must attend school in Christian County, be entering juniors or seniors by the fall of 2022, and be available and committed to attending and participating in each of nine sessions.
Applications may be submitted online at hoptown.org/mycity. They must include student information and an essay, two letters of recommendation, a signed participant release form and a photograph.
Application finalists meeting program requirements may be offered a personal interview to be conducted between September 28 and 30. Selection notices will be sent to all applicants by October 5. A mandatory orientation will be held on October 19.
