A pursuit of a tractor-trailer that was involved in several accidents in Clarksville ended near the Oak Grove Walmart Saturday evening with the arrest of the driver on several charges.
Clarksville police say they began receiving multiple 911 calls just before 6 p.m. regarding a tractor-trailer driving recklessly on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard and hitting several vehicles causing damage.
Several police officers with the Clarksville Police Department and deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office pursued the semi, attempting to get the driver to stop. The semi drove down Wilma Rudolph to the 101st Airborne Division Parkway and headed toward Fort Campbell Boulevard.
He eventually made his way north onto Fort Campbell Boulevard and continued north into Kentucky.
The pursuit ended near the Oak Grove Walmart when the semi-driver exited his vehicle and was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.
Oak Grove police arrested 33-year old Vincent Hawkins of Clarksville and charged him with first-degree wanton endangerment, DUI, reckless driving and fleeing or evading police. Additional charges are pending in Tennessee as the investigation continues.
There were no serious injuries reported from any of the collisions.
