Todd County alters plans to purchase ambulances

Todd County Fiscal Court made quick work of a routine agenda Friday morning and took a change in direction in how the county will obtain two ambulances.

The county designated up to $140,000 in COVID CARES Act money in 2020 toward the purchase of a new ambulance from Penn Care of Ohio, but that vehicle has yet to arrive due to supply chain issues and increased costs of building the box.

The company presented several options to the county on where to go from here, including cancellation of the order or paying additional costs, though the ambulance wouldn’t arrive until sometime next year at the earliest.

Judge-Executive Todd Mansfield and magistrates chose another option that allows them to keep the same cost and specifications, but the ambulance won’t arrive until early 2024.

The plan had been to purchase a used ambulance after the new one to bring the fleet to where Com-Care needs it to be, but those purchases will now be flipped and Todd County will buy a used vehicle when it finds a suitable arrangement.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Billy Bryant thanked the community for its support of the Sharon Grove Park Labor Day fish fry, saying they raised nearly $5,000.

Jailer Jeff Penick reports having a census of 153 in that facility—124 state inmates and 29 county inmates.
