Hopkinsville man facing 200 counts related to sexual images of children

An investigation by the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch has led to the arrest of a Hopkinsville man for alleged sexual exploitation of children.

KSP says 39-year old James West II of Hopkinsville was arrested following an undercover investigation that discovered him allegedly sharing images of child exploitation online.

A search warrant was executed at his home and computer equipment was seized, according to a news release.

West is currently charged with 100 counts of distribution of matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance under 12 years of age and 50 counts of possession of matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance under 12 years of age.

He was also charged with fifty counts of possession of matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance.

West is lodged in the Christian County Jail.
