(Knoxville, TN)  — The Vols destroy Ball State in their college football opener 59-10.  Hendon Hooker went 19-of-26 for 226 yards and two touchdowns.  Jaylen Wright led the ground game tallying 88 yards on 13 carries and a T-D.  Cedric Tillman had seven catches for 74 yards while Jimmy Holiday, Jalin Hyatt and Walker Merrill each had receiving touchdowns.  The team heads to Pittsburgh next Saturday.

(Undated)  — Week one of the college football season is rolling on and two Pennsylvania programs rallied to win wild games.  Number-16 Pitt was the beneficiary of a late pick-six as well as a review at the wire to hold off West Virginia 38-31 in the backyard brawl in Pittsburgh.  Penn State rallied to beat Purdue 35-31 in West Lafayette.  Elsewhere, 11th-ranked Oklahoma State defeated Central Michigan 58-44 in Stillwater while 19th-ranked Wake Forest beat VMI 44-10 at home.
