Rep. Thomas talks about recent special session

Eighth District state Representative Walker Thomas of Hopkinsville was pleased with the special session of the General Assembly that ended last week in Frankfort and agrees with other officials that the relief provided to eastern Kentucky flood victims is just the first step.

The flood relief bill spends $213 million over the next six months to help rebuild communities devastated by floods and Representative Thomas says it’s similar to what was done after western Kentucky was devastated by tornadoes in December.

He says more action will be needed to help those families and government entities devastated by flooding.

At least 39 people were killed in the flooding and two women from Breathitt County are still missing.
