(Cincinnati, OH)  — The St. Louis Cardinals needed 13 innings to beat the Cincinnati Reds 5-3 at Great American Ball Park.  Albert Pujols hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the 13th, and Lars Nootbaar slugged a two-run home run later in the frame for good measure.  Nolan Arenado also went deep in the victory, and Andre Pallante earned his sixth win after tossing three innings out of the bullpen.  St. Louis remains six games ahead of the Brewers in the NL Central.  The Cardinals return home to play the Cubs tomorrow night.

Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol says it was a big win.

>>Reds Lose To Cardinals 5-3 In Extra Innings

(Cincinnati, OH)  — The Reds lose to the Cardinals 5-3 in an extra innings thriller.  The game was tied 2-2 heading into the top of the 13th until Albert Pujols hit a sacrifice fly to drive in the go-ahead run.  Lars Nootbaar stepped up and crushed a pinch-hit, two-run home run to give Saint Louis a cushion.  The Reds got a run back in the bottom half, but the Cardinals would eventually put a stop to the late rally.  Cincy drops two-of-three in the series and will look to bounce back tomorrow when they host the Rockies.
