Bell continues to wait for mental health evaluation

Proceedings continue to wait for a mental health evaluation for Daron Bell, the man charged with murder in the February shooting death of Gregory Burse.

There could be an end in sight to the waiting—after a court order was signed in May for the evaluation to take place as quickly as possible—as Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling informed the court the Kentucky Correctional Psychiatric Complex seems to be catching up in its caseload.

Judge Andrew Self continued proceedings to a pretrial hearing on October 9, in the hope that Bell will have either been examined by that time or at least in the process of being so.

Bell is charged in connection to the shooting of Burse on Richard Street in February—Hopkinsville police say Bell admitted to shooting the 36-year old Burse in the upper torso. Burse was pronounced dead at Jennie Stuart Medical Center and Bell was soon arrested at another location.
