Adanna Rollins’ 28 Kills Not Enough as Marquette Takes Five Setter
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky Volleyball’s Adanna Rollins had 28 kills on 55 swings Friday night as the No. 11 Wildcats dropped a five-set thriller to Marquette on opening night, 3-2 (25-21, 25-22, 18-25, 16-25, 15-12) inside Memorial Coliseum.
Cardinals Shut Out Northern Kentucky, 1-0
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky, — The University of Louisville women’s soccer team (2-1-0) claimed a win in its first road contest of the season as the Cardinals defeated Northern Kentucky (0-3-0), 1-0, Sunday night at NKU Soccer Stadium. Freshman Karsyn Cherry got on the score sheet for the second time in 2022 in the first half and it was all the offense the Cardinals needed to clinch the win.
No. 4 Cardinals Take Down Missouri 3-0
VERMILLION, S.D. — Anna DeBeer had 10 kills, two aces and nine digs as the No. 4-ranked University of Louisville volleyball team swept Missouri 25-12, 25-22, 25-18 Saturday afternoon at the South Dakota Coyote Invitational. The Cardinals move to 3-0 on the season with the win. UofL hit .298 as a team with 11 blocks and five aces. Amaya Tillman had six kills and three blocks and Claire Chaussee added seven kills, an ace and a block. Setter Raquel Lazaro had 31 assists and four blocks. Libero Elena Scott had a match-high 18 digs.
WKU Soccer Draws With Tennessee Tech
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — WKU Soccer (1-2-1) tied with Tennessee Tech (1-2-1), 1-1, on Sunday night in Cookeville. The Lady Toppers scored first in the first half, but the Golden Eagles equalized late in the second half to draw even.
“We certainly played well enough tonight to get a result,” said head coach Jason Neidell. “I thought we did a really good job in the second half creating some dangerous looks. Unfortunately, our finishing just wasn’t clinical enough. It’s been a tough week for our team, and I’m proud of the way we came out to play tonight. We will get back to work and get ready to host Kentucky on a pretty quick turnaround.”
Tops Welcome Back College Football by Beating Austin Peay, 38-27
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – In the very first college football game of 2022, wide receiver Malachi Corley hauled in three touchdown passes while the WKU defense forced three turnovers, and the Hilltoppers opened the 2022 campaign with a 38-27 victory over Austin Peay Saturday afternoon at Houchens-Smith Stadium. Despite have the ball for over five minutes less than the Governors, WKU outgained Austin Peay 388-327 on the day while running three-fewer plays. WKU saw its biggest offensive advantage come through the air by outpassing Austin Peay 280-156. The biggest advantage of the day, though, occurred in the turnover battle as the Tops finished with a plus-three turnover margin by securing four takeaways to just one for the Govs.
Hilltoppers Sweep Weekend Tournament
PEORIA, Ill. – For the first time since 2007, the No. 21 Volleyball program dished out three sweep three-set matches over the first weekend of the volleyball regular season. Closing out the weekend, the Hilltoppers took down the Roos of Kansas City 3-0 in the the CEFCU Invitational hosted by Bradley. They also defeated Bradley and Miami (OH).
Keenan’s career night not enough as Govs fall at Clemson
CLEMSON, S.C. – Maggie Keenan finished with a career-high 12 kills, but Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team dropped a four-set decision (23-25, 25-23, 17-25, 25-23) to Clemson, Friday night, in the season-opening nightcap of the Big Orange Bash at Jervey Gym.

Freshmen Mary Hardy and Tori Schrimpf highlighted the day for Murray State women’s soccer in a 2-0 defeat against Cincinnati on Sunday in Cincinnati, Ohio. The pair were able to combine for two of the Racers three shots on goal in the match.
Nuccio Leads the Racers to Second Win over Southern Indiana
Murray State Volleyball makes it 2-0 in the start of the season with another win over Southern Indiana (0-2), Aug. 27. Racers did not leave room for error after dropping the first set, winning the second to fourth sets decisively. Despite the win, head coach Dave Schwepker feels like there is still things that need fixing. “Today we played better, didn’t make as many errors (then last night),” Schwepker said. “The main goal of the two season opener games against Southern Indiana is to fix a lot of bumps, I wanted to see where our deficits are.”
