The Cubs fall to 55-and-73, and they send Javier Assad to the mound against the Blue Jays tonight. Pitchers Justin Steele and Adrian Sampson will not make the trip to Toronto because they are not vaccinated against COVID-19.

>>Flaherty To Make One More Rehab Start
(St. Louis, MO) — Jack Flaherty is nearing his return to the big leagues. The Cardinals starting pitcher will make one more rehab start for Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday. Manager Oliver Marmol says that the team is then hoping to have Flaherty start the Cardinals’ game against the Nationals on September 5th. Flaherty has been dealing with a shoulder strain for most of the 2022 season. The injury has limited to just three starts this year.
