Christian Co. School Board likely to keep tax rates the same

When the Christian County School Board meets Thursday evening, they will consider a measure to keep property tax rates the same as the current year.

The proposed general fund tax levy of 42.3 cents on real property and 42.8 cents on personal property represents no change, though revenue from those rates is expected to increase by about $1.3 million due to new construction and increased assessments.

Property tax revenues this year came in at just over $17,690,000 and projected revenue in 2023 is estimated at about $19,019,000—assuming the board goes with the recommendation to leave rates the same.

The board hasn’t increased the property tax rate since 2018.

There will be a public hearing at the Board of Education on Glass Avenue at 5:30 p.m. Thursday to hear public comments prior to the regular 6 p.m. meeting.
