The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library has added a digital archive of searchable online obituaries and death announcements to its Genealogy Department.
According to a news release, the original obituaries are searchable by year and surname and are available from the library website, a library card is not required and access is available from any location, completely free of charge.
There are on-line digitization lead times for current obituaries, access to current printed copies of the Kentucky New Era and the Louisville Courier Journal are available in the Genealogy Department and the records date back as far as 1813. The Genealogy Department is located on the second floor of the library and has access to 1000’s of resources including free access to Ancestry.com from any of the library’s public computers.
