Indictments returned for robbery, assault, criminal child abuse

Five suspects charged in connection with an armed home invasion at the Glass Avenue residence of Charles “Bird Dog” Paige have been indicted by a Christian County Grand Jury.

All five men—Korey Zivotin, Isaiah Campbell, Michael Sims, Ajaizion Johnson and Marshall Austin—were indicted for first-degree robbery Friday. They are accused of entering the home of Paige on June 16 while brandishing a firearm with the intent to commit a robbery. Gunfire was exchanged between the suspects and Paige, with no one injured in the incident. The suspects are also accused of conducting reconnaissance and planning before the home invasion occurred.

An indictment for first-degree assault was returned against 29-year-old Taraneisha Quarles of Hopkinsville. She is accused of shooting 45-year-old David Powell four times with a pistol in June, causing injuries that sent him to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Quarles reportedly told officers she shot Powell because she believed he was reaching for a bow.

Indicted on two counts of first-degree criminal child abuse is 22-year-old Dashayla Day of Hopkinsville, a former employee of First Baptist Church daycare. She is accused of intentionally abusing a 16-month old child—the victim did go to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment. Day allegedly lifted the child by one arm and ‘firmly grabbed the child by the face’.
