Governor Andy Beshear gave a brief update on COVID-19 in the state during Thursday’s Team Kentucky update.
The governor says the data could be showing the state is entering another plateau of new COVID cases, following recent a recent spike in cases across both the state and the nation.
The positivity rate is at 18.41 percent and Governor Beshear says hospitalizations, while slightly higher in the last week, remain low compared to other spikes during the pandemic, as do deaths.
The Christian County Health Department reports there have been 152 newly reported cases of COVID-19 in the last week, bringing the overall total locally since the pandemic began up to 18,974. Of those cases, 306 are currently considered active.
The health department says they’re also staying up-to-date on preparation for Monkey Pox—there are no confirmed cases of Monkey Pox in Christian County at this time. The department is not currently able to provide vaccines against Monkey Pox, but will inform the public when they become available.
