MLB Round Up 8/4/2022

>>Cubs-Cardinals Game Gets Postponed

(St. Louis, MO)  —  Last night’s scheduled game between the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals was suspended because of the threat of inclement weather.  The game will be made up today as part of a split doubleheader.  Miles Mikolas gets the start for the first game at 12:15PM, and Jose Quintana will make his Cardinals debut in game two at 6:45PM.

>>Playoff Race Continues For Cardinals

(St. Louis, MO)  —  The St. Louis Cardinals gained ground in the NL Central race despite their game being postponed yesterday.  The 55-and-48 Cardinals now trail the first-place Brewers by just one-and-a-half games after Milwaukee lost to the Pirates 8-7 yesterday.  However, St. Louis did drop out of the final Wild Card spot in the National League as the Phillies beat the Braves to take a half-game lead on the Cardinals.  The playoff races continue today.

>>Reds Denied Sweep In 3-0 Loss To Marlins

(Miami, FL)  —  A sweep gets away from the Reds in their 3-0 loss to Miami.  Sandy Alcantara pitched a complete game shut-out and surrendered six hits in the game.  Jesus Aguilar smashed a homer for Miami while Garrett Cooper drove in two runs.  The team failed to sweep the Marlins and will try and bounce back tonight as they head to Milwaukee for a three-game series against the Brewers.

>>Braves Fall To Phillies

(Cumberland, GA)  —  Orlando Arcia homered but the Braves fell 3-1 to the Phillies at home.  Collin McHugh took the loss.  Atlanta is 63-and-42.  The Braves visit the Mets for the first of five games starting tonight.
