The death toll will continue to rise from historic flooding last week in eastern Kentucky.
Governor Andy Beshear said the official death toll remained 37 Tuesday morning, but he expected that number to go up within hours
Beshear was unable to provide a count of those still missing, saying they are still looking for a way to get an accurate count.
Over 1,300 rescues have been conducted and Beshear says that phase of the recovery is still very active.
Cell service has been restored to most of the disaster area.
Eight cooling centers are opening in eastern Kentucky as heat index values will exceed 100 at times and many in that region are still without power.
