Arrest made in recent stabbing incident

An arrest warrant for felony assault was served Saturday night against a Hopkinsville man who had been sought for a stabbing incident.

It alleges that 34-year old Joshua Lawson of Hopkinsville had been hanging out with the victim and another party on July 17.

Lawson had reportedly been asking for cigarettes multiple times from the third party and owed that person money. He said he’d buy cigarettes to make it up, but changed his mind when they arrived at the Walmart Neighborhood Market and an argument ensued between the three, with Lawson then allegedly chasing the 25-year old male victim and stabbing him in the left lower arm before fleeing the scene.

The victim was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center and required staples.

Lawson is charged with assault in the second-degree.
