Man charged with DUI after injury accident

A Hopkinsville man was taken to the hospital and then to jail following an accident late Friday night on Liberty Street.

It happened about 11 p.m. and the report from Hopkinsville police says 25-year old La’Kesaun  Durant of Hopkinsville had been southbound when he struck an SUV parked on the northbound side at 114 Liberty.

Durant claimed his wheel came off and caused him to lose control, but an arrest citation says he was unsteady on his feet, struggled to answer questions and he showed other signs of being impaired.

He was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center to be checked out for a minor injury to the face and then lodged in the Christian County Jail for DUI and driving without insurance.

Drugs and alcohol are listed as potential factors in the accident and a search warrant was obtained for a blood draw.
