A Louisville judge has granted a request to block the enforcement of Kentucky’s abortion “trigger law” while a lawsuit runs its course.
The ACLU, Planned Parenthood and EMW Clinic in Louisville filed a lawsuit after a sweeping abortion ban went into effect across the state triggered by the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
The groups were granted a temporary restraining order to halt the ban last month by Jefferson County Judge Mitch Perry.
Friday’s ruling, also by Perry, is a temporary injunction that will keep abortions legal at least until the lawsuit is resolved. Kentucky is one of at least 13 that had a “trigger law” in place when Roe v. Wade was overturned in late June.
