(Los Angeles, CA) — Juan Soto is coming away with a win at the MLB Home Run Derby. The Nationals outfielder beat Mariners rookie outfielder Julio Rodriguez after hitting 19 home runs in the Derby Finals. Soto walked off with the million-dollar prize after Rodriguez slugged 18 moonshots in top half of the Finals. Soto took down Cardinals legend Albert Pujols in the second round, while Rodriguez ousted two-time defending Derby champion Pete Alonso.

(Los Angeles, CA) — The MLB is adding a fun twist to tonight’s All-Star game. ESPN reports that if the American League and National League teams are still tied after nine innings, the game will be decided by a Home Run Derby. The AL will be represented by Mariners first baseman Ty France, Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez and Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker. Meanwhile, Mets first baseman Pete Alonso, Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. and Phillies outfielder Kyle Schwarber will bat on behalf of the NL.

(Los Angeles, CA)  —  The Cardinals continued building for the future in the MLB Draft yesterday.  St. Louis selected eight players between round three and round ten, starting with Texas pitcher Pete Hansen with the 97th overall pick.  The Cardinals selected five pitchers, two outfielders, and Oklahoma catcher Jimmy Crooks-the-third.  Additionally, the son of former Cardinals slugger Mark McGwire, Mason McGwire, was selected in the eighth round by the Cubs.  The MLB Draft continues today.
