>>Cardinals Get Shut Out By Dodgers

(St. Louis, MO)  —  The Cardinals managed just five hits in a 4-0 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers at Busch Stadium.  Dylan Carlson and Nolan Arenado each had two hits in the losing effort as St. Louis went 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position.  Dakota Hudson was tagged with his sixth loss after giving up four runs in six-and-two-third innings.  The Cardinals fall to 48-and-44, and they send Andre Pallante to the mound when they take on the Reds at home tonight.

 

>>Cardinals Activate O’Neill

(St. Louis, MO)  —  The Cardinals are getting one of their Gold Glove outfielders back.  Tyler O’Neill was activated from the injured list yesterday.  He was placed on the IL on June 20th after straining his left hamstring.  It was his second stint on the IL this year.  The 27-year-old is hitting .235 with four home runs and 28 RBI in just 46 games this season.  In a corresponding move, St. Louis optioned outfielder Lars Nootbaar to Triple-A Memphis.

 

>>Reds Win Extra-Innings Thriller Against Yankees 7-6

(New York, NY)  —  The Reds win an extra-innings thriller against the Yankees.  The game was tied 4-4 heading into the top of the 10th inning when Joey Votto and Tyler Stephenson each doubled home a run.  Donavan Solano drove in one more to make it 7-4, but the Yankees would get two runs back in the bottom half after a Matt Carpenter homer.  Dauri Moreta entered the game and shut down the Yanks to earn the save.  The Reds win the series and are back in action tonight against the Cardinals in Saint Louis.

 

>>Cubs Get Shut Down By Mets

 

(Chicago, IL)  —  The Cubs weren’t able to solve Mets pitcher Carlos Carrasco in an 8-0 loss at Wrigley Field.  Chicago had eight hits in the ballgame, but the team went one-for-six with runners in scoring position.  Seiya Suzuki and Nico Hoerner each had two hits in the losing effort.  Keegan Thompson fell to 7-and-4 after giving up five runs on eight hits in four-and-a-third innings.  The Cubs have lost their last seven games to fall to 34-and-55.  They send Marcus Stroman to the mound against the Mets tonight.  In other team news, Chicago activated first baseman Frank Schwindel from the injured list and placed shortstop Andrelton Simmons on the IL.

 

>Braves Edge Nationals

 

(Washington, D.C.)  —  The Braves used three home runs to top the Nationals 5-4 in D.C.  Matt Olson, Dansby Swanson, and Michael Harris the second all went yard for Atlanta.  Kyle Wright gave up just two runs over seven innings to earn the win.  Atlanta is 54-and-37.
