(St. Louis, MO) — The Cardinals blew a 6-0 lead in a 7-6 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers at Busch Stadium. St. Louis surrendered all seven runs in the final three innings of the game. After Adam Wainwright held Los Angeles scoreless for five-and-a-third innings, four different pitchers gave up at least one run out of the bullpen. Giovanny Gallegos was tagged with his fourth loss after giving up two runs in the ninth. Nolan Arenado homered in the losing effort, while Paul Goldschmidt drove in two runs. The 48-and-43 Cardinals remain two games back of Milwaukee for first place in the NL Central. Dakota Hudson starts for the Cards against the Dodgers tonight.

(St. Louis, MO) — The Cardinals are getting some players back from injury. The team activated relief pitcher Drew VerHagen from the injured list yesterday. VerHagen gave up two runs in his first inning back from the IL during the Cardinals’ loss to the Dodgers yesterday. In a corresponding move, St. Louis optioned starting pitcher Matthew Liberatore to Triple-A Memphis. The team also is expecting pitcher Steven Matz to return from the injured list in time to start against the Reds on Saturday.

(New York, NY) — A costly mistake by the Reds gives the Yankees an extra-innings win. The game was tied 6-6 in the bottom of the tenth until a wild pitch thrown by Alexis Diaz brought the winning run home. Kyle Farmer, Mike Moustakas, and Stuart Fairchild each hit homers in the game while Joey Votto drove in two runs. The Reds will try and bounce back tonight as they go for the series win in New York.

(Cumberland, GA) — The Mets hit three home runs as they rolled past the Braves 7-3 in Cumberland. Austin Riley hit his 25th home run of the season in the loss for the Braves. Matt Olson and Eddie Rosario also homered for Atlanta. Charlie Morton allowed five runs over five innings to take the loss for the Braves. Atlanta is 53-and-37. The Braves will visit the Nationals tonight.

(Chicago, IL) — The Cubs’ losing streak is up to six games following a 7-1 setback to the Baltimore Orioles at Wrigley Field. Rafael Ortega drove in Chicago’s only run with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth. Justin Steele was charged with his sixth loss after allowing three earned runs and one unearned run in six innings. The 34-and-54 Cubs turn to Keegan Thompson against the Mets tonight.
