A third suspect has been indicted in connection with the 2006 murder and robbery of 84-year old Roscoe Mayes at a home on Greenville Road in Christian County and one of the other suspects may soon be able to bond out of jail.
The Christian County Sheriff’s Office says 39-year old Anastaja Hathaway-Waddell was arrested in Texas and extradited back to Hopkinsville Friday. She’s lodged in the Christian County Jail on charges of first-degree robbery and murder.
Her two co-defendants—46-year old Lashanda Person and 56-year old Regina Vause—are facing the same charges and have been in jail since their indictments in May
Defense attorney Doug Moore represents Person and asked Judge Andrew Self to release her on an ankle monitor during a hearing Monday morning.
He noted that Person has lived an almost completely crime-free life after being released from prison on unrelated charges in 2009 and completing drug court.
Bond was set at $ 1 million and Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling asked for Judge Andrew Self to not reduce bond any lower than $100,000 due to the seriousness of the charge.
Judge Self denied the motion that was filed for bond reduction, but did agree to release her if she can post $10,000 cash so long as she is on an ankle monitor and only leaves her home for work, to meet with her attorney, to attend church or to see a doctor.
An autopsy determined Mayes died from blunt-force trauma.
