Congressman James Comer, who nearly won the Republican primary for governor in 2015, won’t be on the 2023 ballot for governor, but he plans to endorse a candidate who has yet to announce they’re running.
Interviewed by WHOP News Friday morning, Congressman Comer says he believes the top two contenders for the Republican gubernatorial nomination haven’t announced yet.
Comer says he will certainly not be running for governor in 2023.
Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture Ryan Quarles, Auditor Mike Harmon and Attorney General Daniel Cameron have already announced they’re in the race and former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Kelly Craft and former Governor Matt Bevin have been rumored as potential candidates.
Meanwhile, Comer also commented on the assassination of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, saying it’s a reminder of how important foreign policy is during a difficult time in the world.
