Hundreds of Fort Campbell soldiers from Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion and 2nd Brigade Combat Team deployed Wednesday night to Europe to assure NATO allies and deter Russian aggression in the region.
Col. Scott Wilkinson, the deputy commanding officer for support for the 101st Airborne Division, addressed the deploying soldiers, telling them they will bond with and learn from their NATO allies.
This is the first time the division has deployed to Europe in nearly 80 years. In all, approximately 4,700 Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division will deploy to locations across Europe.
