Heat, humidity and dry conditions remain the story for the weather this week and western Kentucky is under an Excessive Heat Warning until 9 p.m. Thursday.
Ryan Presley with the National Weather Service in Paducah said during the weekly conference call that high temperatures in the Pennyrile region will be upper 90’s each day this week and the humidity will help create heat index values close to 110 at times.
There is a chance for popup storms each day this week, but the next significant chance of a soaking rain doesn’t come until Friday night into Saturday.
The long-range forecast is showing hot and humid weather next week, but possibly a little less hot and maybe with a little more rain.
Anyone spending time or working outdoors this week will need to drink plenty of water and take frequent breaks in a shady area or air-conditioned building, when possible.
Never leave a human or pet in a hot car for any period of time, as temperatures can become deadly in minutes.
