The Fairview Volunteer Fire Department has purchased a ladder truck to better respond in the communities it serves.
The department bought a used 1991 Spartan 110-foot ladder truck.
Also known as a “Quint,” it has five capabilities of firefighting: fire pump, water tank, hoses, ground ladders, and an aerial device.
Officials say Fairview has gone from a rural farming community to a more commercially developed community with the addition of multiple large commercial structures over the last few years.
The delivery of the new ladder truck should be within the next two weeks. Once delivered, the ladder truck will be re-lettered, pump-tested, certified, and outfitted with equipment. Members will be training during the month of July on the ladder truck, and they expect to have the truck in service by the first of August.
Fairview serves portions of Christian and Todd counties and officials note the truck can be used in mutual aid situations, when necessary.
There is only one ladder truck in Todd County and it’s normally stationed in Guthrie. Highland is the only other Christian County volunteer fire department with a ladder truck.
