Pennyrile Electric receives clean audit, discusses broadband expansion at annual meeting

Pennyrile Electric System hosted their annual meeting Tuesday afternoon, with both in-person and virtual options for members to take advantage of and attend.

The cooperative received a clean audit for the last fiscal year, with Anna Heard of Gentry, Duiguid and Associates giving the report, with no deficiencies identified in the audit.

President and CEO Alan Gates says they intend to focus on their partnership with Hopkinsville Electric System in the coming year to bring affordable, reliable broadband internet to the communities they serve.

No mention of any possible rate increases was discussed at the annual meeting, but Joey Rodgers of the Cumberland District, Robert E. Allen of the Eastern District and Batesman Jr. of the Western District have each been elected to serve three-year terms on the board.
