A Tennessee man who struck two Christian County Sheriff’s Department cruisers during a high-speed pursuit in July of 2020 accepted a plea deal Monday morning in Christian Circuit Court.
As previously reported, Christian County Sheriff’s Deputy Clevin Robinson attempted to stop 27-year old Cody Collins of Palmyra, Tennessee after Collins passed another vehicle in a no-passing zone on East Ninth Street.
Collins then made several turns, drove into oncoming traffic at times and made his way north toward Crofton on Madisonville Road while reaching speeds of 100 mph. He struck two cruisers before coming to a stop at a location on South Madisonville Street in Crofton.
No one was injured and Collins was arrested on multiple charges, including DUI and fleeing or evading police, with the original report saying he registered a blood alcohol content of .173.
Collins pled guilty Monday to felony wanton endangerment, fleeing or evading police, DUI and criminal mischief, in addition to a separate indictment for tampering with an ankle monitor, with Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling saying the total sentence will be five years.
Formal sentencing was waived and the five-year sentence will run consecutively with sentences from his cases in other counties.
