A historic mid-June heat wave has arrived in western Kentucky and a Heat Advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. Monday through 8 p.m. Wednesday.
High temperatures will be in the upper 90’s each day and the humidity will make it feel like near 110 Monday and Tuesday and 105 Wednesday.
Drink plenty of fluids and take frequent breaks in a shady area or in an air conditioned building if you must work outside. Check on the elderly, those without air conditioning and monitor the very young who are more susceptible to heat illness.
Christian County Animal Shelter Director Irene Grace says if you have cats, dogs or any other animal outside, be sure they have a constant supply of fresh water.
She says check on pets to be sure they are doing okay during the heat of the day.
Never leave a child or animal in a hot car, even for a short period of time, as the temperature can become deadly in a matter of a few minutes.
Dangerous and record breaking heat wave peaks today with heat index values of 105 to 115. Several record high temperatures are expected to be broken. Excessive heat & humidity will continue through Wednesday. Take precautions if spending time outdoors over the next several days! pic.twitter.com/SwyTzc6Gnu
