Ky. sees spike in COVID cases, positivity rate drops slightly

There was a spike in reported COVID-19 cases in the last week, but the positivity rate dropped slightly.

According to the weekly update, there were 13,497 new cases, along with 59 newly reported deaths, putting the death toll at 16,063 since the pandemic began in the Commonwealth. The positivity rate is at 12.07 percent, down from 12.42 percent last week.

There are 352 individuals in the hospital with COVID-19, 50 in the ICU and 25 on a ventilator.

While Christian, Todd and Trigg counties remain ‘green’ on the community spread level map, along with Hopkins and Muhlenberg, Caldwell County is listed as ‘yellow’ and Lyon County is the ‘red’.
