Severe weather possible today, rain through much of the week

Showers and thunderstorms this week should give way to a nice and unseasonably cool weekend before it feels more like summer next week.

Western Kentucky remains under a slight risk for severe weather today and Sean Poulos with the National Weather Service in Paducah says damaging winds and large hail are the primary threats.

The severe risk is lower Tuesday and Wednesday, but heavy rain will be possible and a few issues with standing water in the usual low-lying and poor drainage areas will be possible.

Highs may not get out of the 70’s Saturday and Poulos says Sunday will be nice before temperatures warm back into the 90’s next week.

Thursday is expected to be the only rain-free day before the weekend.
