East Fourth murder suspect arraigned in District Court

Arraignment was held Tuesday morning in Christian District Court for the man accused of fatally shooting 33-year old Christopher Montrell Mumford of Hopkinsville outside an 810 East Fourth Street home just before midnight Friday.

Christian District Judge Lindsey Adams entered a not guilty plea on behalf of 32-year old Tavaris Quarles of Hopkinsville and left his bond at $500,000.

Judge Adams scheduled a preliminary hearing for June 8.

The warrant says Mumford went to the home with some friends and that Quarles opened the door when they knocked and shot Mumford before fleeing the scene.
