MORNING SPORTS BRIEFS 5/30/22

NBA: The Boston Celtics are heading to the NBA Finals. Boston eliminated the top-seeded Miami Heat 100-96 in Game Seven of the Eastern Conference Finals last night. The Celtics advance to their first Finals appearance since 2010 and will meet Golden State in Game One on Thursday night.

Auto Racing: Marcus Ericsson was the winner of the 106th Indianapolis 500 Sunday. It’s the third time in his 52 Indy Car career starts that Ericsson was the first to cross the finish line. Pato O’Ward finished in second place and Tony Kanaan finished in third. Ericsson is the second Swede to win the Indy 500, joining 1999 winner Kenny Brack.

600 laps wasn’t enough as Denny Hamlin took home the win following 413 total laps in the Coca-Cola 600. The race was the longest in the history of the race. His teammate Kyle Busch finished the race in second. Kevin Harvick, Chase Briscoe, and Christopher Bell rounded out the top five.
