This Saturday ushers in the return of Take Kids Fishing at Jeffers Bend Environmental Center and it’s shaping up to be a beautiful day for it.
Appearing on WHOP News recently, Charles Turner and Diane Croney-Turner with Jeffers Bend say they’re excited to bring this wildly popular event back to local children and families, after missing it in recent years due to the pandemic. Turner says it’s all about giving children who may not normally get to go fishing a chance to do so, and have fun with their family.
He says they will be able to supply a limited number of fishing poles and bait, but he urges those who can to bring their own.
Croney-Turner says you can register in advance for $2 per person, and then you can register the day of for $3.
The event begins at 9 a.m. Saturday and runs until 12 p.m. and Turner says they’ll have competition for largest fish caught, casting distance, most fish caught and more. There’s also the chance to catch Big Jeff, an elusive, jumbo-sized catfish that comes with a prize if caught.
