Christian, Todd and Trigg County and the remainder of the Pennyrile region are now yellow on the Kentucky COVID-19 Community Level map as case numbers are picking up.
The region had been green for several weeks, but more contagious subvariants of omicron are spreading relatively quickly across the country.
Kentucky Public Health Commissioner, Dr. Steven Stack says the map has three levels—green, yellow and red—and it’s a composite of data regarding COVID cases and hospitalizations.
Governor Andy Beshear says the good news so far is that ICU admissions have remained relatively low with the new variants and the number of Kentuckians on a ventilator with COVID is at a near pandemic-low.
Dr. Stack and the governor still encourage Kentuckians to get vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19 and to always stay at home when you feel sick.
