McIlroy comments on Mickelson absence from PGA Championship

During a press conference today at the PGA Championship, former champion Rory McIlroy says it’s “sad and unfortunate” that defending champion Phil Mickelson is not playing at Southern Hills this week. The PGA of America announced over the weekend Mickelson would not defend his title.

By the way, McIlroy will be paired with Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth in the first two rounds that begin Thursday. Louisville area native Justin Thomas will play with Dustin Johnson and Patrick Cantlay in the first two rounds.
