This coming weekend will be home to the 12th annual Haiti Benefit Auction, which is once again sponsored by the Local Mennonite and Plain Communities.
Organizer Nate Overholt appeared on WHOP Monday and says things kick off Friday afternoon with a catfish fry—with plenty of food on the menu—before moving into singing and celebration and then the auction starting right at 6 p.m.
He says they have a spread of different items, most handmade and many unique, up for grabs this year, along with a separate tool sale happening on site at the Christian County Ag. Expo Center.
Saturday starts early at 6:30 a.m. and runs to 1 p.m., with more food and more auctioning happening throughout the day. Overholt says all proceeds raised will go to benefit select and responsible missions happening in Haiti.
The Ag. Expo Center is located behind the Christian County Ag. Extension Office at 2850 Pembroke Road. For more information on the event, or to donate items or money to the cause, contact Overholt at 270-725-0320 or online to kyhba.org.
