Reds, Cubs, Cardinals & Braves lose, Angels rookie Detmers throws no hitter

The Cincinnati Reds fell a run short of the Milwaukee Brewers despite a late rally in their 5-4 loss at Great American Ball Park. Cincinnati scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to make the game interesting, but the team failed to get a runner in scoring position in the ninth. The 6-and-24 Reds close out the series today with pregame at 11:05 on News Radio 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP.

Elsewhere in the National League: The Chicago Cubs fell 5-4 to the San Diego Padres. The series concludes this afternoon at Petco Park.

Interleague: The St. Louis Cardinals fell to the Baltimore Orioles 5-3 at Busch Stadium. The Redbirds have dropped three in a row as the series continues tonight.

The Boston Red Sox ended a five game losing streak with a 5-4 win over the Atlanta Braves. The series finale is tonight at Truist Park.

Los Angeles Angels rookie pitcher Reid Detmers is the first to throw a no-hitter this season. Detmers tossed the 12th no-no in Halos history in a 12-0 rout of the Tampa Bay Rays in Anaheim. He allowed just one walk and struck out two in just his 11th big league start.
Detmers becomes just the 25th rookie ever to throw
