PGA Tour won’t let players play in LIV Golf Invitational

The PGA Tour is denying the release of players looking to participate in the first event of the Saudi Arabian-financed LIV Golf Invitational Series. The tournament is set to debut the same week of the PGA Tour’s RBC Canadian Open. A memo obtained by ESPN informed players that their request for release has been declined in accordance with the PGA Tour Tournament Regulations. In response, LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman issued a statement calling the tour’s decision “anti-golfer, anti-fan, and anti-competitive.”
