Crofton Elementary School will be closed Wednesday due to emergency repairs happening at a Kentucky Utilities substation that morning.
According to a news release, Christian County Public Schools officials received notice from Kentucky Utilities that a substation near Crofton would be shut down on Wednesday, for emergency repair and will require power to Crofton Elementary to be shut off on Wednesday for approximately three hours beginning at 8 a.m. Officials have made the decision to close the school for that day.
Superintendent Chris Bentzel says, “We have been in contact with officials from Kentucky Utilities and Crofton Elementary most of the day. We had hoped to avoid canceling classes, especially this late in the year, however after speaking with officials from Kentucky Utilities it was apparent that because of the emergency repair situation, there was no other option for Wednesday.”
Christian County Public Schools will apply for an Emergency Day Waiver with the Kentucky Department of Education to avoid having the missed school day added to the school calendar for students.
